Our client is a well-established and growing removals business, recognised for delivering a high-quality service and building long-term client partnerships. They are now looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to join their London team.
This is a key role for a confident, commercially minded sales professional with strong removals industry knowledge and a proven ability to win and develop profitable business. You will be responsible for securing new contracts, strengthening relationships with existing accounts, and supporting the continued growth of the business across London and the wider UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and secure new domestic and commercial removals opportunities across London and the UK
- Develop and implement a sales plan to achieve targets and drive sustainable revenue growth
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers across corporate, private, and public sector clients
- Carry out proactive business development activity including calls, emails, meetings, and site visits
- Prepare tailored quotations, proposals, and tender submissions, presenting solutions confidently to clients
- Attend industry events, exhibitions, and networking opportunities to enhance market presence and expand pipeline
- Collaborate closely with operations and move management teams to ensure smooth service delivery and excellent client outcomes
- Manage structured client onboarding and handover, ensuring a seamless transition from sale through to delivery
- Accurately record and report sales activity, pipeline progress, and performance against KPIs using the CRM
Key Performance Indicators
- Number and value of new contracts secured
- Sales activity levels and pipeline growth (documented and measurable)
- Proposal, tender, and bid conversion rates
- Cross-selling and upselling of additional services (e.g. packing, storage, specialist moves)
- Quality and consistency of handover from sales to operations
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in sales / business development within the removals industry
- Strong understanding of UK removals services, pricing structures, and customer expectations
- Demonstrable track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and closing skills
- Confident proposal writing skills, including bid and tender management
- Experience using CRM systems and solid Microsoft Office capability
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and commercially focused
- Comfortable working independently while contributing positively within a team environment
