We're seeking an entrepreneurial Network security or Cyber security consultant with a passion for standards-driven security, eager to investigate and validate how vendor devices align with the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), specifically the new EN18031-1/2/3 standards.

Description

We're seeking an entrepreneurial Network security or Cyber security consultant with a passion for standards-driven security, eager to investigate and validate how vendor devices align with the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), specifically the new EN18031-1/2/3 standards.

You’ll work closely with a small, agile team involved in CE/RED certification projects, helping us discover, define, and execute how third-party IoT or radio-connected devices can demonstrate conformance through practical testing, documentation, or gap analysis.

Ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of security and network engineering, product compliance, and is generally curious. Travel to the clients and vendor sites will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Explore and define practical methods to verify EN18031-1/2/3 conformity for vendor-supplied devices.
  • Assist in testing or simulation of product behavior against cybersecurity requirements (e.g., secure update, authentication, network misuse).
  • Analyze vendor documentation (e.g., TCFs, firmware, update methods) to assess risk or compliance gaps.
  • Contribute to the creation of test plans, checklists, or internal assessment criteria aligned to RED Article 3(3)(d)/(e)/(f).
  • Work collaboratively with product compliance managers, QA teams, and external testing labs.
  • Assist in building a repeatable discovery and test process for validating EN18031-1/2/3 conformity for vendor-supplied devices

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience with IoT cybersecurity or networking, embedded systems, or secure product development
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of networking and security protocols TCP/IP, TLS, Authentication Services, Wireless, and Wired.
  • Familiarity with CE/RED, EN 303645, EN 18031 (or strong interest to learn fast)
  • Comfortable in reverse-engineering or probing device/network behavior for compliance
  • A curious and consultative mindset: proactive, self-driven, structured, and communicative
  • Bonus: experience with Notified Bodies, penetration testing, or common IoT platforms (ESP32, Nordic, etc.)
